Underpinning

It is, obviously, a vital component for the building process or renovation of the existing house, which can be identified in the following way: underpinning represents the set of planned and ordered works with the scope of the fortification of the basement of the already assembled or any other related framework of the infrastructure network. The reasons for underpinning can be different, and these can be determined to the similar as follows: the foundation of the building initially is not resistant enough to keep the weight of the construction, the destination of the building altered and it needs to support a larger amount of burden, the ground on which the construction is placed is not sufficiently resistant, that is probably because of changes in structure or wrong compositional evaluation at the projecting level, the nearby buildings require works of ground excavation or soil fortification of the existing construction, construction works nearby, enlarging the existing building or adding at least one more floor to the existing ones (above or below), economical reasons for saving funds, that is to build extra room enlarging the building than to construct a new one, force majeure consequences, like: earthquake, landslides, floods, drought etc causing the movement of the footing and requiring the fortification of the basement. There are two main modalities of underpinning: enlarge of the foundation in depth or in breadth, and the strengthening of the ground around the foundation of the building by placing the grout. There are more traditional types of underpinning: by expanding resin injection, mass concrete, mini-piled schemes or beam and base.
